CAPE's Use Cases

CAPE’s architecture is driven and validated by three real-world use cases. Each one runs a demanding workload on the CAPE hardware platforms and software stack: high-frequency grid telemetry, privacy-constrained video and high-volume Earth-observation data. As a consequence, it turns the platform’s design goals into measurable requirements for throughput, latency, fault tolerance and security.
The diagram above shows how the use cases sit on top of the shared software stack and hardware platforms.

Follow each one for the full story:

Smart Grid (IPTO)

Edge analytics for the transmission grid: anomaly detection and predictive insight on high-frequency SCADA data, processed close to the substation.

Edge AI (Fraunhofer ITWM)

A privacy-preserving video-analytics pipeline at the edge, accelerated by an FPGA-based RISC-V/CXL deep-learning accelerator.

Satellite Data Processing (PCBD)

Earth-observation data processed on the EMDC at the ground station, sending only high-value results to the cloud.
